4th Marine Division Monuments

Sgt. Grit,

I thought you would like to see the new 4th Marine Division Monument put up this week. It sits at the "Veterans Memorial" Eisenhower Park, East Meadow N.Y. The 1st Marine Division Association also has a beautiful monument there.

Best Regards,
John Ratomski

Please find attached a picture of the finest group of Marines I ever had the opportunity to Command. Also, I have included their web site URL for those who might be interested in their story. It is maintained by Kurt Lange, a fine Marine NCO once upon a time and now a keeper of the faith and one who preserves the story of one of the finest Marine Reserve Units to be Activated in recent time of our Country's need. They distinguished themselves, our Corps and all of those who serve as reserves waiting for the "Balloon to go Up". They are about to celebrate their 10 year Anniversary this July.

Unfortunately, I had to relinquish my command prior to their "Call to Glory". Nonetheless, I feel very much a part of this fine group of men and their families and wish to share their past and present with you and your readers.

I felt I should send this to you for your BS page.

CAX_Machine_Guns

This is the "Wolfpack". The machinegun section of C 1/24, 4th Mar Div.

In the 11 years that I have been in our beloved Corps, I have never served with a better crew. These Devil Dogs went to CAX with only a notion of what a real machinegunner could do. While we were there, each of these marines performed admirably leaving behind their foolish notions and taking with them a found purpose. I could never imagine serving with a better group of men.

Bottom Left to Right: Professor, Old Dirty D, Jocky, Horseteeth, and Little Guns.
Top Left to Right: Sgt Wolf, Cleaver, Big Guns, Alberto VO5, Junior, Beaver, and Sloth.

Just thought I'd send this one for your album.

diehl

My name is George Diehl. At the time of this photo, I was a Corporal and a squad leader...Battery I, 14th Marines, 4th Division. The picture was taken in 1982 at the Mountain Warfare School...located at that time in Pickle Meadows, California. I am the Marine standing near the tree with the sh*t eatin' grin on my face. We had just run our asses off at about 8,000 feet elevation
